Last Surgery Spotlight of 2013 now available on PSEN

THE DECEMBER SURGERY SPOTLIGHT features Dr. Rod Rohrich performing a Secondary Facial Rejuvenation procedure on a 62-year-old Caucasian woman. The patient presents with significant loss of fat in her face, a tight skin envelope, and some laxity in her neck. Dr. Rohrich’s technique involves a lift-and-fill approach to correct facelift deformities:removing and relocating existing scars; releasing the malpositioned deep layers; refilling the depressed temporal areas and the deep malar fat compartments with harvested fat; and re-draping and re-shaping the deep layers and reshaping the final skin layers. Dr. Rohrich is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He is a past president of ASPS and former director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Rohrich currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as an editor for Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery. In the past ten years, he has been recognized many times as a top doctor in America and Dallas. Dr. Rohrich has a clinical practice at Zale Lipshy University Hospital/UT Southwestern Medical Center and the Tom Landry Sports Center/Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

First Surgery Spotlight of 2013: Midface Rejuvenation

PSEN’s first Surgery Spotlight of the new year is Midface Rejuvenation performed by Julius W. Few, MD. The midface rejuvenation includes a lower blepharoplasty to dissect the redundant skin, a tear trough correction to eliminate the tired and aged appearance of the face, and lateral cathoplasties because there is more than six to eight millimeters lower lid distraction. The video can be streamed for free once you are logged in to PSEN, or can be purchased as part of an online course to earn CME credit.

Dr. Few is the Founder and Chief Medical Director at The Few Institute for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, located in Chicago, IL.  Additionally, he serves as a Clinical Associate Professor for the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Chicago. Dr. Few specializes in providing aesthetic plastic surgery, while preserving the unique ethnic features of his patients’ face, breast, body, and skin. Surgery Spotlight features Total Facial Rejuvenation

Dr. Roxanne Guy has authored more than 50 papers and has given more than 100 presentations on the topics of breast reconstruction, facial reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. She served as the first female president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2007. Dr. Guy is certified with the National Board of Medical Examiners, The American Board of Surgery and The American Board of Plastic Surgery. She has previously been listed in the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons and has been an active member in 17 different medical associations. Dr. Guy currently has a private practice in Melbourne, Florida.
